BH6 ORBITAL

Awwwww shoot - here we are again. While I'm finally in my first full time FUI gig right now, I still find time to knock out these monster designs from Jayse Hansen.

He's been such a valuable mentor through my FUI career, and I am sure that it won't stop here. This file was MUCH bigger than the last design from BH6 that I knocked out. While a lot of elements were repeated, there were many individual graphics that really needed their own flare. Taking my keyframe knowledge a step further pushed this animation to its full potential.

Using sexy speed curves and velocity values in AE, while also just establishing animation hierarchy and learning to create that "flow" feeling, was all super essential to making this come alive.

I think the biggest thing I took away from this project was realizing that animation can't be random. If you notice, everything that is animating is coming from a cause and effect scenario - like dominos. This feels natural to us as a viewer, but also makes for a cool effect. Timing is key though! You can't just put graphics on one after another, there's taste involved, and I think I'm starting to develop a much more defined pallet.
